About This Blog - Living Through Cancer with Faith, Hope & LoveI decided to release the beginning of my book on this blog for a couple of reasons… to get this story out there and to help motivate me to finish the book. I will let the book tell the story on how this friendship grew and the journey we went through. It’s a story about how two co-workers became close friends through a cancer diagnosis. It is deep, it is personal, and it is hard. As I look back, I can see how everything unfolded and why God chose me to be ‘that person’. I am a story teller, plain and simple. The posts you see are all un-edited. So, bear with me. The editing will be done before the book is published. As for Laura’s texts… I copied them exactly the way she wrote them. I wanted the reader to feel her emotions through her words and how she expressed them. What you will read is a series of thousands of text messages between Laura and myself. These texts are just that…texts. You will find a lot of Laura’s LOL’s (she liked to use that a lot), along with abbreviated words and short sentences. This is my story. It is Laura’s story. I wrote it exactly how I wanted to tell it. At times, it is raw and painful. It is as open as we could possibly get. Cancer affects the patient. Cancer affects the family. Cancer affects the caregiver. I was that caregiver. Oh, and don’t worry… Laura had me as her caregiver. There are a lot of laughs and humor. She wouldn’t have expected anything else. More Info Laura’s Little Bits of Comfort Laura’s Little Bits of Comfort is a non-profit organization Laura and I started as a pre-school project with our pre-k class. Laura thought it would be nice for our pre- k kids to put together care packages for others going through cancer treatments.
